Riddles and Images

"Macbeth! Macbeth! Macbeth! beware Macduff; Beware the thane of Fife. Dismiss me. Enough."(IV.i.71-72) 

 

Here is apparition that Macbeth sees when the witches tell him more about his near future. This is how I imagined the apparition in the scene. At this point of time in the play, Macbeth is not as confident as he is and all his plans are starting to fall on him. Macbeth become scared of Macduff when hearing the ghost tells him to be aware of him. He just wants the ghost to tell him that he will be okay, as he seems very hopeless in this part of the scene.

 "Be bloody, bold, and resolute; laugh to scorn The power of man, for none of woman born Shall harm Macbeth. " (IV.i.79-81)

After the first apparition, Macbeth was wondering if Macduff is going to kill him and then this was revealed to him which gave him ease. Any man who is women born will not kill him. He was sure that he knew of no one women born and he starts to feel safe again. In those days every one was women born, not c-section.  This picture is just of a lady that is ready to have a c-section. 

"Be lion-mettled, proud; and take no care Who chafes, who frets, or where conspirers are: Macbeth shall never vanquish'd be until Great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill Shall come against him." (IV.i.90-94)

The last revelation, Macbeth hears is of the Great Birnam wood reaching Dunsinane. Macbeth is sure that trees will not walk to Dunsinane as that is impossible but little does he know that these trees will be cut and will carried by people up to Dunsinane, resulting in his death coming true.

Twitter Experience

I absolutely loved my twitter experience. I was able to tweet out my thoughts without feeling that I was going to be judged by others. Twitter is a place where I feel one can release my passion through words.  The tweets on twitter are straightforward and to the point. Also, there is a maximum letter limit of 140 words, to allow the tweets to be short, yet simple. Twitter is one of the most popular networking sites today. However, like all networking sites, Twitter has both positive and negative sides.
The positive side of twitter is that it is "viral." This means that more people can see your tweets and respond to them. Another positive side is that Twitter allows you to keep in touch with your friends, and relatives. It also allows you to follow your favourite celebrities, so that you may be updated on what they are up to during the day!
On the other hand, Twitter also has a negative side. Composing tweets during the day can be very time consuming and addicting. If one beings to tweet too much, they can get severely obsessive over twitter. Also, if you do not make your tweets private or protected, having a Twitter account may be dangerous, for people whom you don't know can begin to stalk you. No matter what the case with a social networking site, as long as you do not abuse it, and along as you be careful, the benefits can overcome the negatives. Like everything in life, Twitter can be enjoyed in moderation.

Act 1 Blog post

1)    What do I know/think about the play so far?  What are my thoughts on Shakespeare, Macbeth and this play so far?

In general, Shakespeare is a well-known bard all over the world and almost every play he wrote is classic and famous. Shakespearean language has strong personal trait and unique style. Shakespeare's play is not very well-known in his lifetime. In contrast, in the later centuries, he earned a reputation for his amazing literature from all over the world. Macbeth is a very plot driven play. So far I have been very interested with the character of Macbeth and in his actions to try to become King.

2)   With all this talk about Destiny, Fate and Influence, what role do you think the witches will have in this play?  Are we all subject to our pre-determined destiny?  Or can we influence our own future?

When reading the play, I feel that the witches are just the spark of the future for Macbeth. They know that Macbeth is a type of person that would like to fulfill the wishes and he will succeed. I don’t believe in a pre-determined density, everything that happens to us in the future depends on what we did in the past. Macbeth was told that he was going to be King, so he doesn’t just sit there in the play and wait for that title. He himself goes out of his comfort zone and makes the witches revelations true. He killed Duncan—the witches didn’t go kill Duncan. His actions are the only reason that the witches revelations came true. In other words all the witches did was speak to him, but they didn't take the action in their own hands. Macbeth is a character that is affected by people a lot and cares what others say to him. He is willing to do anything to prove himself to others. So once he heard the witches, the three revelations were the drive that made him take those actions, but he himself does not realize this. We can influence our own future.

3)   Pick one character from the first act and write a "Character Profile" of that character.  Tell us what you know about them, what you think will be their role in the play, and what you think about them as a character.  Do you like them?  Identify with them?  Do they teach us a anything?

                                             

Lady Macbeth.

So far from the play, we find that Lady Macbeth is driven to be Queen of Scotland and she is ready to do anything for the title. Lady Macbeth is not the average Lady. She goes of the way to that step closer to become Queen. She is ready to anything and everything weather Macbeth accepts or not. She is the reason in which Duncan died. She forced Macbeth to kill him, even though he was not 100 percent convince that he wanted to. Her reason was that that you’re a man and you should be able to do anything and be strong for me.  I like Lady Macbeth’s attitude in which she sees herself higher than the male gender, and just because she is a women doesn’t mean she has to stop doing what she wants. However, she is very evil as she is just caring about herself in the play and not what Macbeth went through when killing Duncan to prove her. She does teach women in this society an important message. We are not second-class citizens and we are able to do anything we want and we should be seen as equals to men.
